Denpasar hotel and lodging guide

Very few tourists stay in Denpasar for any length of time, preferring more vibrant beach resorts, but the city does have a good variety of accommodation options. It is best suited to budget travellers looking for simple home stay comforts at keen prices. There are several backpacker friendly guesthouses well located in the centre and prices are as cheap as anywhere in Bali. At this level you will get a basic chalet room with ceiling fan, cold water bathroom and complimentary breakfast and expect to pay around rp50,000 for a double room.

Mid range and luxury hotels in Denpasar often lack traditional charm, aimed more at domestic business travellers than discerning Western tourists. Adi Yasa
This has been the number one travellers’ favourite for many years and offers nine clean rooms well located for the Bali Museum and shopping. It is also just a stone’s throw away from public transport. All rooms are identical with double or twin beds and en suite cold water bathrooms, selling for rp50,000. Nukki Rusdi
Handily located for the Ubung bemo terminal, this unassuming family run place has spotless budget rooms set around a pleasant garden. Fan rooms with en suite bathrooms go for rp60,000 and there are a couple of larger bungalows with TV for rp150,000. All prices include tax and Indonesian breakfast. Nakula Familiar Inn
A small family guest house with surprisingly large en suite rooms. Prices are rp70,000 for a standard double or rp100,000 for those with hot water bathrooms. This is the most tourist-friendly budget place to stay in Denpasar. Staff speak excellent English and have in house laundry and a tour booking service. Taman Suci
This is a neat and modern multi-storey business hotel just south of the city centre. Rooms are spacious and functional if a little lacking in character. All come with TV, air conditioning and hot water bathrooms. Standard rooms are rp400,000 up to rp450,000 for a triple bed family suite. Fave Hotel
An arty, modern three star hotel featuring 104 minimalist rooms. All accommodation is stylishly furnished and very spacious with prices starting at a very reasonable rp350,000 for a standard room. There are larger suites with separate living area at rp550,000. In room facilities include TV, mini bar and air conditioning. Inna Bali
Built by the Dutch in 1927, this is Bali’s oldest surviving hotel which still displays plenty of colonial charm. Set in sprawling landscaped gardens, there are tennis courts, a swimming pool, spa and restaurants. Rooms feature high vaulted ceilings, large verandahs and king size beds. Aston Hotel Suites
This is Denpasar’s most luxurious option, well located in the heart of the city centre. There are 290 rooms comprising one and two bedroom suites, each with a separate lounge area. Furnished to exacting five star standards, all have TV/DVD, WiFi, full size bath tubs and some include four poster beds. Guest amenities include four swimming pools, health spa, bar and restaurants, conference rooms and fitness centre. Prices are rp900,000 for one bedroom suites rising to rp1,200,000 for two bedrooms.
