Lovina boasts budget places on the sand
Although Lovina has always had a reputation as a budget travellers’ centre, there is also a rash of upmarket beach hotels and moderately priced boutique resorts. The highest concentration of places to stay can be found in Kalibukbuk which has a huge choice in all price ranges. Elsewhere things become a little more spread out with a slower pace of life and less traffic noise.
Budget home stays are scattered throughout all the villages and with healthy competition, prices are good value and discounting is commonplace. In Kalibukbuk there are few hotels with sea views due to its rather built up nature but in Kaliasem for example, it is easy to find small guesthouses overlooking the beach.
Prices start at around rp80,000 for a simple fan room with attached cold water bathroom. Many places offer several standards of room which is often a good bet for free upgrades during quieter times. Rooms with air conditioning and TV go for around rp300,000 and upwards depending on amenities and location.

Located in the centre of busy Kalibukbuk and handy for the beach, this rambling 30 room Lovina hotel is a backpacker’s favourite. There are also a few attractive cottages with air conditioning and hot water. Amenities include a lounge, internet cafe and swimming pool.
