Staying in Sanur offers the rare bonus of inviting ocean views and pleasant sea breezes from the comfort of your room. Seperated from the beach by a pedestrianised walkway, Sanur beach accommodation is generally in refined five star resorts or midrange boutique bungalows.
There is still plenty of choice for budget travellers along the main resort high street which features numerous small family owned guest houses. These offer traditional Balinese cottages with basic facilities such as cold water bathrooms and ceiling fans. Bottem end prices start at around rp70,000 up to rp120,000 for hot water and perhaps the use of a swimming pool.
Staying just a short five minute walk away from the beach will save a packet for mid range accommodation with similar comfort and facilities costing around 50 per cent less. For a small two or three star resort you can expect to pay around rp400,000 per night for a spacious air con bungalow with a communal swimming pool. Prices start at about rp800,000 for luxury beachfront properties and generous discounts are usually available in low season.

Keke Homestay
Located just off the main road of Jalan Danau Tamblingan, this lovely family owned guest house has spotless budget rooms with lots of character. There are just five fan rooms at rp90,000 or a couple of larger and more private air conditioned cottages for a bargain rp150,000. Yulia
A long running budget traveller’s favourite, this unassuming family run place is still as popular as ever and offers simple rooms set around a small garden. There is a choice of compact twin and double rooms for rp80,000 with ceiling fan and cold water showers. Breakfast is included and there is an onsite laundry and tour desk. Coco Homestay
No frills budget rooms offering one of the cheapest places to stay in central Sanur. Decor is a little dated but these tiled bungalows are fairly spacious and well maintained. Rates are rp70,000 for a double with fan and cold water baths and breakfast is included. Staff are friendly and knowledgable and can arrange day trip excursions and bicycle hire. Prima Cottages
A peaceful tropical garden surrounds this charming bungalow resort set back from the main road. It offers some of the best value in town and boasts a small cafe and inviting swimming pool. Characterful bamboo furnished rooms with fan cost rp120,000 which are extremely spacious and can easily accomodate an extra bed on request.

Swastika Bungalows
This large mid range bungalow resort has some of Sanur’s most characterful accommodation with 80 traditional Balinese cottages. Many are set around a fabulous swimming pool area featuring a large restaurant, cocktail bar and salon and spa. TV, air conditioning and large bath tubs come as standard for rp500,000 per night. Located in the far south of Sanur beach, this is a huge resort complex with uninterrupted ocean views, swimming pools, a spa and one of Bali’s finest water sports centres. Grand Bali Beach Hotel
This is Sanur’s most imposing hotel and also one of the oldest, overlooking a vast expanse of private beach. There are excellent resort facilities here including water sports, restaurants, swimming pools and a shopping arcade. The atmosphere is a little impersonal but rooms are full of character and offer excellent value for five star comfort.
