Nights out in Seminyak offer lots more variety and colour than rowdy Kuta and it is a much more self consciously stylish scene. The area is filled with numerous hip lounges and clubs and attracts a mix of A-list celebrities, well heeled Indonesians and more discerning expats.
There is a little bit of everything in Seminyak with lively salsa bars, huge urban dance clubs and trendy beachfront lounges. For a more down to earth night of drinking, there is no shortage of traditional pubs too with the possibility of sharing a couple of cool beers with friendly expats and watching some live sport on large plasma-screen televisions.
Seminyak is the centre of Bali’s gay scene and has several exuberant bars and clubs along Jalan Dhyana Pura which put on colourful drag shows and theme nights. Some of the venues here are open around the clock, yet the scene is generally refined and no where near as hectic as Kuta.

Jaya Pub
This laid back watering hole is a haven for sports fans and offers some of the area’s best local bands. It is a spacious American style bar room with a laid back atmosphere and moderate prices for imported beer and cocktails. Kudeta
This beachfront lounge is an icon of style and is Bali’s most hyped venue. There are four bars and a huge open air terrace overlooking the ocean and attracts hip movers and shakers and the occasional celebrity. It can often resemble a strutting fashion catwalk. Bahiana
Expect hot and sultry nights of salsa at this exuberant Latin bar and lounge. There is a colourful roster of weekly events and theme nights all starting off with early evening salsa classes for couples in town who want to show off on the dancefloor.

Santa Fe
Open 24 hours a day, this busy dimly lit bar is renowned for its raucous atmosphere and deafening live bands who play to a full house most nights. Unpretentious, good old fashioned fun is the order of the day and it attracts a mixed crowd of style conscious clubbers and groups of surfers. Q Bar
A glam lounge bar that has been the unofficial centre of the Seminyak gay scene for many years. It attracts a fairly mixed crowd of stylish clubbers here to enjoy decadent cabaret and drag shows and it has a refreshingly easy-going attitude. A fun night out of high camp guaranteed. Double Six Club
This is the venue that put Seminyak on the map as a serious clubbers’ haven. Virtually every A list DJ has played here and it attracts large fashionable crowds every night. It has three bars, two dance floors and an open air swimming pool affording cool sea breezes. The place to be for those who take their raving seriously. Superman Bar
An unassuming neighbourhood bar that sticks out like a sore thumb among the hip lounge bars of Jalan Dhyana Pura. It offers the simple pleasures of drinking, shooting pool and joining in nightly jamming sessions or a spot of karaoke. Beer is cheap and it has a good natured, laid back atmosphere that attracts a healthy crowd of passing tourists and long stay surfers.
